Clemson is out in front of the pack for sophomore athlete Jamyest Williams.
The 5-9, 170-pound prospect from Lawrenceville, Georgia (Archer High School) was in Clemson earlier this month for the Louisville game.
“It was real good. I had fun. I enjoyed myself,” Williams said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.
“The fans were unbelievable. The game was unbelievable. I loved the way the Clemson defense played. It was outstanding. The offense, how the running back stepped in and just controlled the offense, I loved that.”
His first game in Clemson was earlier this year, for the spring game, so he was already familiar with the facilities that are on campus right now.
“It’s beautiful,” Williams said, “And they showed me what they’re doing to it and it looks really nice…I love how they’re adding the fieldhouse.”
While in town Williams spoke with defensive backs coach Mike Reed, running backs coach Tony Elliott and defensive coordinator Brent Venables. Williams, who’s rated by 247 as a four-star athlete, is impressed with Reed’s resume, which includes a playing and coaching career in the NFL.
“He has a lot of experience and he’s a young guy that I can relate to,” Williams said.
This season, he’s also visited Georgia, Georgia Tech and N.C. State. A return trip to Clemson for the South Carolina is on the docket, so is a visit to Florida.
Clemson, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Wake Forest and Wisconsin have offered.
“My favorite would probably be Clemson, right now, I would say. I don’t really have a top-five right now,” Williams said.
Why Clemson?
“How me and the coaches relate, the facilities, the education…the city, it’s a calm city, I could be myself and not get in much trouble.”
