Top sophomore talks Clemson offer

Earlier this year, Jeff Scott stopped by Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida to see one of the nation’s top sophomores.

The Clemson co-offensive coordinator went to check on 2017 safety Cyrus Fagan.

“I was walking to seventh period, walking down the hallway and I saw Jeff Scott,” Fagan said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.

“He was talking to me and he said the DB coach liked the way I played and they offered me,” Fagan said.

The 6-2, 170-pound prospect has an offer sheet that includes Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi State, UNC, South Carolina, USC and UCLA.

“It’s a blessing really,” he said Clemson. “It was a surprise to me. It’s a great ACC school. At my school, my sophomore year, for (Scott) to come see me, it was a blessing, a surprise.”

Fagan is still learning about the Clemson program, but he’s got plenty of interest in the Tigers.

“I don’t know a lot, but I like their program. I like the way they run it,” he said. “I liked when Sammy Watkins was there. They just feed their beasts, they feed their animals. I like their defense. I like them a lot.”

Florida and UCF hosted him on campus for visits earlier this year and he hopes to make it up to Clemson sometime soon.

“I’m trying to make some arrangements, so I can come up and see the campus, the coaches,” Fagan said.

As a sophomore, he had 83 tackles, five interceptions and seven pass breakups.

“I don’t really have a favorite, but Clemson is really up there,” Fagan said.
