The latest on Lamar

Clemson continues to occupy a spot in Tre Lamar’s top five.

Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State are also listed among the favorites. A number of factors will be considered as he moves towards his fall decision.

“I definitely want to go to a school with a great education for what I want to go into, which is civil engineering,” Lamar said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider. “I want to have a good relationship with the coaches there and feel comfortable. Just those factors are probably what’s going to go into the decision the most.”

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables maintains a solid relationship with the standout from Roswell, Georgia.

“I’ve known him for a long time, so we talk about everything,” Lamar said. “I’m probably going to get back up there this summer, so we were talking about getting back up there just to see the engineering program and get a look at things like that this time.”

Even though he’s been to Clemson several times, Lamar has yet to get an in-depth look at the school’s engineering program.

“I know they’re a great school. Coach (Tony) Elliott, who has been recruiting me also, he was in engineering at Clemson and he said great things about the program up there,” Lamar said.

Late last week, Venables stopped by Roswell, to check up on Lamar. Coaches from Alabama have also been by the school.

“But I’m pretty sure a couple of other coaches are going to come see me practice later,” Lamar said.
