I have a long time love affair with firearms and shooting sports ! It is so much , that it's on an even playing feild with Clemson football .....or higher.
I purchased a 75 year old Mosin Nagat sniper in 7.62 x 54 that came complete with Bayonet, cleaning system, ammo pouches and all other items that originally came with the rifle from Finnland in 1939-1942.
Today I cleaned 70 years worth of cosmoline off and put it on the bench.
I shot this rifle using 203 grain Boattail russian ammo.
The first shot at 100 yards hit the 10 ring with absolutely no adjustment ! I shot the rifle 15 times today , and only 1 round hit outside the outer ring with factory Russian ammo ! That one was only about 4 mm high and right, but still on paper ! That shot was likely due to a hot barrel. Noone builds anything like it used to be ! Quality used to be the first order of buisness.
I also have a 30-40 Krag Springfeild,M1 Garand as well as a couple of Belgium Browning hunting rifles, Remingtons,AK-47 , SKS, 5 pistols, a 300 yard magnum muzzle loader etc etc .
My Browning A bolt Medallion and Burris scope was an investment of a shade over $2000.00. The Moslin Nagant with all the accesories cost a total of $108.00 including a $12.00 box of bullets , and it will shoot right with the Browning !!!!:eek:
I've been working on a 1000 yard rifle idea that would cost about $8000 for quite a few years , but I dont think I've ever been as impressed with anything as I am my older rifles ! The M1 garand in 30.06 is a tack driver at 250 yards !!!!!!!!
Just another example of what quality used to be compared to what it is now !
