The title of this forum brought back memories of a story concerning one of my Crow friends following the 63 -17 debacle in Columbia.
it was early in December of 2003 when one of my Crow friends approached me with tears in his eyes. I immediately surmised he had lost a close family member. When I asked if this was the reason for his deep sorrow, his response was "no". I felt a deep sense of relief until he said, "Joe, it's worse than that". Frankly, I couldn't think of anything worse, and then he continued, "I have one wish in life. We've known each other for a long time, through good times and bad. You've been there for me during all of these years when the Tigers put a butt whipping on my Gamecocks. I would like to see my Gamecocks defeat your Tigers in football just one more time. This one wish for a very rare victory over your Tigers is not for me but for my children and grandchildren. At least I have seen my Gamecocks defeat your Tigers at least once in my lifetime"
Not wanting to hurt my friend's feelings while he was under so much stress and trying to be as diplomatic as possible, my response to him was, "Chick, right now I'd say the odds of your children and grandchildren ever seeing the Gamecocks defeat the Tigers are about 63 to 17".
