Clemson Neck and Neck for No. 1

Jayron Kearse, one of the top athletes in Florida, has a top five and plans to narrow the field over the next month.

“My top five are Auburn, Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami and Southern Cal.  I plan to cut it to three before the season,” said Kearse.

The good news for Tiger Nation is Clemson is one of the schools battling for number one on the list.

“They are in no particular order but Clemson and Southern Cal are neck and neck for number one and the other three are fighting for number three,” said Kearse.

Are Clemson and Southern Cal guaranteed a spot in the final three when Jayron narrows the field later this summer?

“Yes,” replied Kearse.

Jayron had expected to visit Clemson this week, but instead will visit Auburn.

“I am going to visit Auburn for the weekend,” said Kearse.

A decision is not expected until later this year or early next year.

“I will make my decision after I take my official visits,” said Kearse.

The Clemson staff stays in touch with the two-way standout.

“They tell me how much they can use me in coach Venables system and what I can achieve at Clemson.  They say I am a need, not a want,” said Kearse.
