Spartanburg High School junior running back Tavien Feaster was back in Clemson on Saturday for the first time since his June stop at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
The four-star prospect spoke to TheClemsonInsider on Sunday afternoon.
“That was a great atmosphere…just getting back down there, it was great,” Feaster said of Saturday night’s win over UNC.
The Tiger coaches have hosted him several times over the last couple of years, so Feaster is very familiar with everything that’s going on in Clemson.
“Now that I’ve been down there so many times, I kind of know all the coaches,” Feaster said. “I spoke with all the coaches.
“Just to see all the new faces down there, everybody still has that family spirit.”
Was there anything unique about the conversations with the Clemson coaches?
“It was just basic catching up and saying hello.”
Feaster liked what he saw from Deshaun Watson, who was making his first start at Clemson.
“That was just crazy to me. Just yesterday he was a recruit, but he had his first start and broke the (single-game) school record (for touchdown passes). It was just awesome. He’s an awesome kid, a great football player.”
Feaster was also impressed with the atmosphere inside Death Valley.
“It was wonderful,” he said. “They cheered every second of the game. Even when things didn’t go right, they stayed up with their team and helped their team get the victory.”
Up next is a trip to Knoxville for Tennessee’s game against Florida.
“Well, for me, I’m just taking it slow. (Clemson) is still recruiting me pretty well. Everyone has stepped up their recruiting, as far as Auburn, Florida, Tennessee — they’re stepping up now,” Feaster said. “The real attention has started.”
For now, the plan is to narrow his options down at the end of the season. From there, Feaster isn’t sure what’s next — there is no timeline for a decision.
Feaster will return to action on Friday night when Spartanburg hosts Byrnes. He’s been sidelined with a separated shoulder since injuring it on the first drive in the second game of the season.
