Cooper commits to Clemson

Zerrick Cooper wanted to hold up his end of the bargain.

Last Saturday night, his buddy and Jonesboro High School (Georgia) classmate Jordan Griffin committed to Kentucky. While visiting Clemson on Saturday for the Louisville game, Cooper pulled the trigger and committed to Clemson.

“Really, it was a decision I made — Jordan and I had a bet with each other. One commits and the other commits,” Cooper told TheClemsonInsider.

The four-star quarterback (247 composite) is the second addition to Clemson’s 2016 class.

“The relationship that me, coach (Chad) Morris and coach (Dabo) Swinney have, I just feel comfortable around them,” Cooper said.

Clemson offered Cooper during the spring game. He returned to Tigertown in the summer for the first day of Dabo Camp. He was back a few days later with his parents for an in-depth tour of the Clemson campus.

Cooper’s last visit to Clemson was for the home opener against S.C. State.

“They run the spread most of the game. Of course, I love to throw the ball, as well as run the ball. They’re very explosive,” he said.
