Game Day Blog: Clemson at Boston College

6:39 p.m.

Clemson wins the game 17-13 as the Tigers’ defense gets a stop with 49 seconds to play.

6:15 p.m.

That was the longest drive of the game that Stoudt has executed. The drive covered 82 yards in six plays. Stoudt has a career high 29 of 45 completions for 285 yards.

6:13 p.m.

C.J. Davidson just went 32 yards for the TD. 32 yards for No. 32. Clemson leads 17-13 with 9:35 to play.

6:10 p.m.

By the way it is pouring here in BC.

6:07 p.m.

BC misses the extra point. Clemson trails 13-10. BC had 109 yards offense before that drive which covered 84 yards in seven plays.

6:05 p.m.

That was a heck of a catch by BC tight end Josh Gordon. The play is under review.

6 p.m.

Anthony was holding his back but he seems okay. Kellen Jones is in for Anthony.

5:49 p.m.

Clemson leads the total offense game 302 to 109, yet leads just 10-7.

5:46 p.m.

They head to the fourth quarter with the Tigers leading 10-7.

BC is now 0-9 for the game in third downs.

Clemson’s opponents are 4-39 on third down in the last 11 quarters.

Swinney tried to keep Fleming but he wanted to leave.

In case you did not notice, Clemson was under center on that previous third-and-short play.

We were just told the Kurt Fleming has decided to leave the team. That is Byers that is wearing No. 40. Bourret just told us that.

Clemson holds BC to a punt. They are getting the ball. They have to play conservative here.

BC has not made a play on Clemson without a gadget. That was a 35-yard reverse pass.

They just iced Leggett’s left knee.

Jordan Leggett is grabbing his right knee. The left knee was his previously damaged knee.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney says he does not know if Smith and Choice can come back in the game in the second half. That according to Tim Bourret.

Stoudt went 5-7 and converted a third down with his feet on the 12-play drive to end the opening half of play.

4:50 p.m.

Lakip makes a 23-yard field goal as time expires in the first half. Clemson leads 10-7 at halftime.

4:47 pm.

BC has 68 total yards right now. Clemson has 192.

Robert Smith is headed towards the locker room.

BC ties the game with a 26-yd TD pass to running back Sherman Alston. With 7:29 to play, the game is tied, 7-7.

Robert Smith is sitting on the bench and everyone keeps coming over and patting him on the back.

That was another three-and-out for BC and you could tell they had that play schooled.

4:15 p.m.

Wayne Gallman goes 17 yards for a TD. That was his first career TD. Clemson leads 7-0 11:42 to play in the second quarter. The drive was 4 plays, 50 yards and took 1:21.

4:13 p.m.

It looks like they have taken Choice’s helmet from him. Dye does not have a helmet either.

There were 74 total yards in that first quarter by both teams. Clemson 0, BC 0

Choice is on the bike on the sideline. Not sure what is wrong. He just pulled his left pants leg over his knee.

That was the first time in Pinion’s career he had a touchback. He had 42 career punts in a row down inside the 20 before that touchback. BC ball at the 20.

Clemson’s defense gets another three-and-out.

That call proves that the Tigers are going to play field position. BC takes over at their five.

3:56 p.m.

Tony Steward’s sack earlier was his second of his career. His first was the strip-sack fumbled that sealed the Tigers victory in last year’s win over BC.

3:55 p.m.

The Tigers pick up a couple of first downs to change field positions.

Clemson goes three and out and Pinion hits a 41-yard punt with no return. BC starts at its own 23.

Gallman gets the start at running back

Clemson won the toss and deferred to the second half.

The atmosphere here at BC is pitful to say the least. The Stadium is maybe a third full with six minutes before kick.

I spoke with someone on the Clemson staff about BC quarterback Tyler Murphy and how the Tigers can stop him. They key is just staying in position and not leaving their area. They like their speed though, especially with their safeties. They think they match up pretty good in this contest. Better than what some people think.
