Clemson tight end commitment J.C. Chalk has been to three college campuses this fall: Clemson, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.
The 2016 prospect from Argyle, Texas attended the Ole Miss/Auburn game on Saturday night. On Sunday, he spoke with TheClemsonInsider about the trip.
“It was a fun game,” Chalk said. “It was kind of fun to kind of compare the two differences between Clemson and Ole Miss. I was expecting it to be really loud, because it was such a big game. Clemson was 10 times louder than that game, by far, so that was interesting to me.”
It was the first visit to Ole Miss for Chalk, who committed to Clemson in June.
“I saw The Grove, so that was cool,” he said. “I liked the coaching staff, they’re nice. They kind of reminded me of Clemson a little bit, by the way they’re preaching stuff. They’re not just going to care about football. They’re going to try to make you a better man. That was interesting.
“The main thing that stuck out the most was the crowd, the crowd noise was so different.”
He also noticed that while visiting College Station.
“I went to an A&M game earlier this season, it was a home game at their new stadium, and I even thought Clemson was louder than that stadium, too, by far,” Chalk said. “Especially for the Louisville game, the first series Clemson was on defense, that was the loudest I’ve ever heard a stadium.”
Game day trip No. 1 to Clemson was for the UNC game.
“It was nice to just get back and build the relationship better and better with them. I really enjoyed being down there, the whole atmosphere and everything,” Chalk said. “I got talk to a couple of different recruits on those two different trips, kind of see how they felt about Clemson and kind of try to give them a little push, to try to get them there.”
While in Oxford, Chalk spent time with five-star quarterback Shea Patterson.
“We’ve been buddies for a while and I was pushing him really hard to come to Clemson,” Chalk said. “He likes the program a lot. He likes coach (Chad) Morris. I’m pretty sure he’s coming down for the South Carolina game.”
