Tigers lead for Johnson

A.C. Flora senior Denzel Johnson took his official visit to Clemson this weekend.  Denzel spoke with TheClemsonInsider.com Monday to discuss the visit.

“I had a good visit.  My parents came with me.  It was a good weekend,” said Johnson.

A future NFL receiver hosted Denzel for the weekend.

“Mike Williams was my player host.  He was cool.  We had a good time hanging out together.  We just hung out Saturday night with some of the other players and recruits,” said Johnson.

Denzel needs to do some work on his academics in order to make the cut with Clemson.

“Clemson told me if I get my ACT score up they will take me.  I just need to get my score up,” said Johnson.

After spending the weekend at Clemson the Tigers now are the clear leader if Johnson can get his test score.

“Clemson is my leader now,” said Johnson.

Denzel has official visits planned this weekend for Georgia Southern and next weekend for NC State.

“I am still planning to take both of those visits,” said Johnson.

What did the Clemson staff tell Denzel about where he would play if he ends up a Tiger?

“They said probably receiver,” replied Johnson.

If today was signing day where would the Palmetto standout sign?

“I don’t know right now.  Clemson is my leader, but I am not sure where I would sign today,” replied Johnson.
