Back for spring practice

Jack DeFoor got word of his Clemson offer when he was on campus for the Elite Junior Day.

Over the next few weeks, several others jumped on board, including Ole Miss, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Michigan, Nebraska and Miami.

The three-star offensive tackle from Calhoun, Georgia was back in Clemson last week to see the Tigers’ final practice before spring break.

“It was good. I really enjoy their style of football. It’s a fast, hurry-up offense and that’s what we do at Calhoun,” DeFoor told TheClemsonInsider. “I know that’s what I want to be apart of in college, a fast and hurried-up pace offense.”

DeFoor also sat in on a team meeting before practice began.

“That was my first team meeting, college team meeting. Coach (Dabo) Swinney — Coach (Brent) Venables told beforehand that (Swinney) always makes the team meeting, he turns it into a life lesson. He did that and it was cool to listen to,” DeFoor said.

He was also impressed with the Tigers’ practice.

“It was good. I talked to him and coach (Jeff) Scott a lot. Coach (Robbie) Caldwell said they lost a lot of tackles last year and that’s what they want,” DeFoor said. “They want a guy that can move at tackle.”

Since his Junior Day trip to Clemson, DeFoor has been to Auburn. Later this month, he’ll head to South Carolina and Ole Miss. A stop to Georgia is also in the works.

Who leads?

“Right now, who I’ve talked to the most is Clemson and Ole Miss. Clemson is my top right now, because I’ve talked to the coaches in person. I’ve met them and seen what they have to offer and I really like it up there. My family likes it up there. It’s always enjoyable being in Clemson.”

However, there is no timeline for a decision.

“I really don’t know. It could be soon or later, I really don’t know,” DeFoor said.
