Highly-touted baseball commitment Seth Beer made his way to Clemson last weekend for an official visit.
The corner outfielder/first base prospect spoke with TheClemsonInsider earlier this week about his weekend in Tigertown.
“It went great,” Beer said. “I really loved going up there and getting to sit down and have dinner with coach Monte Lee and just talk about a few things, just go through what the plan is and how me getting registered for stuff in the winter, getting registered to come in a semester early and just going through the whole process.”
During the visit, Beer got his first look at the new player facility at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
“I walked in there and was like, ‘Coach, is this a joke? Because, if it is, it’s cool.’ It was incredible. What a blessing and all stuff. It was just phenomenal,” Beer said.
He’ll graduate from Lambert High School (Suwanee, Ga.) in December, before heading up to Clemson for good in January.
“Every day, I’m closer to a dream that I’ve had for a while, I would definitely say that,” Beer said. “There are some things that I’m nervous about, I would definitely say I’m excited about it and I’m glad to come up there and be a Tiger.”
Lee wants Beer to take a lot of reps at first base, but also wants him to be prepared for work at both corner outfield positions.
“I’m really excited about his mentality on hitting,” Beer said of Lee. “I think his leadership mentality is great. When he’s talking, you want to listen. He just has one of those voices. What he always has to say is great info or input on certain situations.”
