Just hours from the start of the Signing Day, TheClemsonInsider has the latest on a few of the remaining targets on Clemson’s 2016 board.
We’re not ready to call what’s going to go down with Trayvon Mullen, so it’s also tough for us to make a definitive call on what’s happening tomorrow with K’Von Wallace.
But as we’ve indicated in the past, one seems to be the operating number at cornerback, and it doesn’t appear that anything has changed. It sounds like Clemson would not take both Mullen and Wallace if the opportunity were to present itself. As is the case with anything in the recruiting world, nothing is set in stone.
All that being said, we feel pretty confident that Clemson is going to land a good cornerback in the 9 o’clock hour.
Ohio State was the school Wallace grew up rooting for, but the Buckeyes added a commitment from Jordan Fuller on Monday and Rodjay Burns reaffirmed his commitment on Tuesday. And there were already two other cornerbacks already in the boat: Wayne Davis and Kareem Felder.
Even if Wallace wanted to pick Ohio State at 9:30 on Wednesday morning, there may not be room for him. But that’s not why we feel safe in saying that Clemson has the inside track.
Sources tell TCI that Clemson would be the team to beat, even if Ohio State wasn’t near or at its number of defensive backs.
Back to John Simpson, who we wrote about earlier today, to say it’s still too close to determine what’s going to happen.
Sources in Clemson have indicated that the staff has yet to find out which school Simpson will attend, even though he’s already made up his mind.
The same things are coming out for Florida. The staff in Gainesville hasn’t gotten word yet either, but they do think their shot is 50/50.
Stay tuned to TheClemsonInsider for more as we continue to gather information on all of the prospects Clemson is tracking on Signing Day.
