Star Clemson Pro Shares Words of Wisdom for New College Signees

A former Clemson star in the NFL provided great perspective and shared some words of wisdom following Wednesday’s early signing day.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins had advice for high school recruits who are fresh off signing with various college programs.

“It’s a lot of excitement. It’s a joyful moment. For me, it was one step closer to reaching my goal, which is where I’m here now,” Higgins said, via Bengals reporter Mike Petraglia.

“So, to those kids that just signed (Wednesday), congratulations. Work’s not done. Keep grinding, keep working for what you want, and everything will work out. God got you.”

It’d be wise for new signees to heed Higgins’ advice, considering the success he’s earned in both college and the NFL, and the hard work he’s put in to get where he is today.

Higgins signed with Clemson as a five-star recruit in February 2017 before going on to become one of the most decorated receivers in school history. He finished his three-year Tiger career from 2017-19 with 135 receptions for 2,448 yards and 27 touchdowns, and departed as the only player in school history to record double-digit touchdown receptions in consecutive seasons.

Since being drafted by the Bengals in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft, Higgins has hauled in 251 catches for 3,525 yards and 23 touchdowns in 56 career games. He posted back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2021 and 2022 with 13 receiving touchdowns across those two campaigns.
