During ESPN’s College Football Live: Signing Day Special this week, ESPN analyst and national recruiting director Tom Luginbill touched on the ACC from a football and recruiting standpoint.
Miami owns the top-ranked 2024 class in the ACC according to multiple recruiting services, including ESPN, followed by Florida State and then Clemson at No. 3 among the conference’s classes.
“This is a conference that on the field in 2023 started off really, really strong,” Luginbill said. “Multiple 4-0 teams, went through a bit of a lull there and then came kind of roaring back. NC State was as hot as anybody on the back half. Dave Doeren’s done a great job with that class as well. They’re a great developmental program. You see what Miami’s done as a top-10 class. You see what Florida State has done. The sky is not falling anywhere. I think that’s the one thing.”
Miami’s 2024 class ranks sixth nationally right now in ESPN’s rankings, while FSU has the country’s ninth-ranked class according to ESPN, which currently ranks Clemson’s class at No. 15 nationally.
Added Luginbill regarding the Tigers: “And you know what, there’s going to be a lot of heat about Clemson – ‘oh, well Clemson hasn’t had this many double-digit this, or they don’t have this many top-five that.’ Clemson’s just fine. They’ll get their fair share of players that everybody else wants.”
