Eason a Forever Proud ‘Clemson Man’

Nick Eason is a “Clemson Man” through and through.

In 1998, Eason entered Clemson as a “Clemson Kid.” Now, 26 years later as the Tigers’ defensive tackles coach, he is very proud to be a “Clemson Man.”

Eason took to social media this week, posting a great message about what it means to be a “Clemson Kid” and why he’s glad he made the decision to come to Clemson because it made him “a forever proud Clemson Man”:

“Over the last few weeks I have had the distinct pleasure of visiting 127 schools in the southeast region. With each visit I never take for granted the impact that a visit from a coach has on the life of a student-athlete. While I was on the road I kept hearing the term “He’s a Clemson Kid” come up. First, a Clemson kid values graduation, and their primary concern is preparing themselves for life after college and enjoying their college experience. Secondly, a Clemson kid is one that never lets the challenges they may encounter stop them from being an overcomer, and most importantly they have the heart of a winner, and the drive to win a championship! In 1998, I became a “Clemson Kid” and I’m so proud of that decision because it let me be a forever proud “Clemson Man.” Go TIGERS!”

Eason is entering his third season as a coach at Clemson in 2024 after returning home to his alma mater on Jan. 7, 2022, upon being hired as the Tigers’ defensive run game coordinator and defensive tackles coach.

A veteran of 17 combined NFL seasons as a player and coach, Eason was a four-year letterman at Clemson, playing 47 games with 35 starts and recording 15 sacks and 30 tackles for loss. He was a team captain, All-ACC selection and Strength & Conditioning All-American at Clemson, and he became the first Clemson football player to graduate with two years of eligibility remaining after earning a degree in sociology in August 2001.

Eason, who later added a master’s degree in human resource development in 2008, was a fourth-round selection by the Denver Broncos in the 2003 NFL Draft. He played 117 NFL games over 10 seasons from 2003-12 with the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.
