Clemson’s top linebacker target has officially locked in plans to be at the big official visit weekend in just over a week.
Five-star Tyler Atkinson (Grayson, Longanville, GA) tells The Clemson Insider that he will be on hand for the event set for May 30 to June 1. It will be Atkinson’s first official visit of the summer.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect has kept his official visit schedule very close to the vest, but Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State are some of the others expected to get one. A decision is expected sometime before the start of his senior year.
Atkinson was last on campus for the Elite Retreat in March, his first visit to Clemson in about a year.
“The visit to Clemson was incredible,” Atkinson told The Clemson Insider after the visit. “What really stood out to me was the ‘AtkNup Plan’ they put together for me. They showed me in detail their vision for me there. From getting my degree in three years, my role in the defense that coach (Tom) Allen is bringing, how they can help grow my brand, to everything else.”
After helping lead Grayson to a 6A state title in the state of Georgia, he was an Army-Navy Bowl participant earlier this year, while also winning the MaxPreps National Junior of the Year Award.
Atkinson finished his junior campaign with 166 tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 46 quarterback hurries, an interception and a forced fumble.
Atkinson ranks No. 9 overall in the 247 Composite Rankings and No. 1 among all linebackers in the 2026 class.
