Sapp Hopes 2012 is The Year

Former Clemson great Ricky Sapp hopes 2012 will be the year where he finally sees the field in the NFL.  TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Ricky as he works through camp with the New York Jets.

“It is going real well.  I still have a lot of things to work on and get better at,” said Sapp.

How does the former Tiger enjoy playing for the Jets?

“Well I love being in a city where you have such great fans.  I love the way the Jets do things.  I am truly blessed to be here,” Sapp told TheClemsonInsider.com

How are the Jets planning to use Ricky?

“They are using me in many ways.  Of course with my pass rush, but I am doing anything I can to help the team,” said Sapp.

After battling injuries for several years, the former Tiger is finally healthy.

“This is the healthiest I have been in about three years,” said Sapp.

Ricky spent time in Clemson during the offseason and he worked hard to get his NFL career back on track.

“I love Clemson and I will always be there to work in the offseason to train with the strength coaches and some of the guys that come back,” said Sapp.

What advice has Ricky given former Clemson and Bamberg-Ehrhardt teammate DaQuan Bowers?

“I told him to look at it as a challenge and just take it head on and stay focused.  You will get knocked down a couple of times in life, but it is how quickly you get back up.  He is such a strong minded, level headed person so he will be just fine,” replied Sapp.

Ricky expects big things from the Tigers in 2012.

“I think they will do great.  I truly believe that if everyone keeps buying into what coach Swinney is trying to do they will win the whole thing,” said Sapp.
