TheClemsonInsider.com spoke with a number of players following Saturday’s scrimmage in Death Valley.
Here are some of the quotes from the post scrimmage interviews:
Scrimmage #1- Player Observations
Center Dalton Freeman
Overall Thoughts
“Very good, a lot of good things on both sides of the ball. A little bit too many turnovers here and there trying to make something happen. Overall, I think if we play in the system we are going to be a very good team.
On What Position He Played Today
“Center, I played all center today.”
On The Young Offensive Linemen
“They are showing a lot of improvement. Right now they just have to quit thinking so much and be able to go out there and play fast. It was there first live situation so obviously they were a bit tentative, but we they are getting there.”
Running Back DJ Howard
Overall Thoughts
“We had a pretty good tempo today, it could be a little bit faster.
On His Focus in Today’s Scrimmage
“For me attention to detail is critical. To understand the defense and understand when they are showing blitz and when they are not showing blitz so I can help secure the quarterback.”
Quarterback Tajh Boyd
Overall Thoughts
“It was a pretty decent day, a lot of effort, a lot of energy. We made some mistakes here and there, but at the same time the guys competed hard. There is going to be a lot of film to be corrected, that is the most exciting part, getting out there and getting back to film study.”
On Offensive Talent at Wide Receiver
“It is definitely starting to flourish, those guys come out there to compete everyday.”
On Focus of Spreading the Ball Around to Playmakers at Reciever
“Everyone had the opportunity to get the ball, everybody has the opportunity to play in the game. When they are in the game they should expect the ball, because they are going to have the opportunity to get it. “
On Charone Peake
“Charone Peake, one of the standouts today, he had a great day. I am so proud of that guy. All he does is work. He is one of the quietest and most humble guys I have been around. I am just glad to work with him, he is going to be a special player.”
