Week One Movers

Clemson wrapped up the first complete week of camp Saturday with a scrimmage in Death Valley.  Several players made a move for more playing time over the first nine days of practice.  Which players are demanding more playing time by their performances in camp?

TheClemsonInsider.com takes a look at the Week One Movers who are showing they are ready to contribute more in 2012:

1. Ryan Norton

Both Dabo Swinney and Chad Morris said that Ryan Norton is one of the top five offensive linemen following Saturday’s scrimmage

2. Charone Peake

Charone Peake was one of the standouts in Saturday’s scrimmage as he scored two times.  Peake’s confidence level has reached a new high as a Tiger.  During the first nine days of camp Charone has showed that he plans to play a major role in the Clemson offense this fall.

3. Lateek Townsend

Lateek was also one of the stars of Saturday’s scrimmage with two sacks.  Lateek brings some nasty to the Clemson defense.  He can be a major playmaker on defense if he can just learn his assignments.  Townsend is battling Travis Blanks and Quandon Christian for playing time.  More performances like Saturday and he will be hard to keep off the field.

4. Vic Beasley

Late in the week Dabo stated that Vic Beasley is battling Corey Crawford for the starting defensive end position.  The staff challenged Vic over the summer to put the time in off the field to compliment his physical talent on the field.  So far it appears to be working as Beasley has gained praise from a number of players and coaches for his play the first week of camp.

With Corey Crawford suffering an ankle injury Saturday the door may be open for Beasley to earn more playing time.

5. Stanton Seckinger

Red-shirt freshman Stanton Seckinger made the move from receiver to tight end in the spring.  The move appears to be a great one as Seckinger is battling for playing time on the two-deep.

Stanton has three catches for 43 yards in Saturday’s scrimmage.  Coach Morris and coach Swinney have both praised his efforts the first week.
