TheClemsonInsider.com is pleased to announce that Will Vandervort will be joining the site as a full-time Senior Writer starting September 1.
Will Vandervort is an award-winning sportswriter and editor, who worked for IPTAY Media the last three years. He covered Clemson University Athletics and wrote for the athletic department’s Web site and newsletter—www.clemsontigers.com and www.myorangeupdate.com. Vandervort was also an editor for the athletic department’s magazine, Orange: The Experience. Besides his duties as an editor and writer, Vandervort is also the co-host of the The Tiger Pregame Show, a three-hour radio show on Clemson Game Days that airs on Clemson’s Flagship Station WCCP-FM.
Vandervort has been a sportswriter and editor for 15 years at newspapers and Web sites in Georgia and South Carolina. He has covered college football in the ACC and the SEC for most of that time as well as covering small college football.
Vandervort has covered Clemson University sports since 2004, first as a beat writer for the The (Seneca) Journal and then as the editor for IPTAY Media.
“I’m very excited about coming to work for theClemsonInsider.com,” Vandervort said. “Leaving IPTAY Media and Clemson was a very hard decision to make. The people at Clemson have been great to me. It was fun working up close and personal with them, while also getting to know them on a personal level. But, there comes a time when you have to make a difficult decision to further your career and to grow. Coming to theClemsonInsider.com will give me that opportunity. I’m excited about the opportunity Robert is giving me and I look forward to helping his site grow.”
Vandervort will allow TheClemsonInsider.com to take their coverage of Clemson athletics and recruiting to a new level.
“I am thrilled to be adding Will as a full-time senior writer to the site. He is one of the best in the business. Will has a passion for Clemson sports and is an outstanding writer. He will provide in-depth coverage of Clemson football, basketball and baseball on a daily basis to our readers,” said Robert MacRae.
The addition of Vandervort to the staff of TheClemsonInsider.com is the third addition in the past several months. Ed McGranahan joined the site as a correspondent in July and Heath Bradley joined the site earlier this summer.
“Our goal is simple. We plan to provide the best coverage of Clemson athletics and recruiting available anywhere, and we plan to continue to provided our coverage at no cost to our readers. The addition of Will and the other recent additions will allow us to do just that,” said Robert MacRae.
