2014 defensive tackle Dexter Wideman opened his 2012 season Friday night leading Saluda to their first victory of the year.
“We had our first game Friday. We won 26-7,” said Wideman.
Dexter, who camped at Clemson earlier this summer, had an outstanding performance to start the year.
“I had a good game. I had 11 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three quarterback pressures,” said Wideman.
Expect to see the top defensive lineman in the Valley a number of times this fall.
“I am going to go to a number of games at Clemson and South Carolina for sure,” said Wideman.
The prize recruit has turned his focus from recruiting to his junior season.
“Right now I am focused more on my season, but I will take recruiting as it comes,” said Wideman.
When asked about his current leaders, Dexter responded, “I really don’t have any but I would say the in-state schools are out front”.
What will be important when the Saluda standout selects his college destination?
“I want to find a place where I have a good relationship with the coaches. I want to make sure I fit in the program,” replied Wideman.
