Clemson Furman History
Furman is Clemson’s oldest football rival. The two teams played for the first time on October 31, 1896. Clemson won that game played in Greenville 14-6. The two teams did not meet again until 1902 when Clemson won 28-0. The Tigers won the first seven meetings between the Palmetto schools.
29 Game Win Streak
Clemson has a 29-game winning streak against Furman. It is the second 29-game win streak for the Tigers against an opponent. The other was against Virginia and ended in 1990.
No. 11
Clemson is ranked No. 11 in both the Associated Press and the USA Today coaches poll this week. The Tigers were 14th in both polls to start the season. Clemson has now been ranked in the top 25 in at least one poll for the past 16 weeks. This is the longest streak since 2000-01.
Clemson’s record for consecutive weeks in the top 25 is 50 straight polls from 1989 to 1992.
500 Plus
Clemson has gained over 500 yards of total offense in the first two games. This is the first time Clemson has opened the regular season with consecutive 500 plus yard games.

Clemson scored 45 points in last week’s victory over Ball State in Death Valley. That is the most points in a half for the Tigers since they scored 49 against Wake Forest in 1981.

Boyd Leads the Way
Tajh Boyd completed 24-34 passes for 208 yards against Auburn and then 19-23 against Ball State for 229 yards. Tajh has started 16 games for the Tigers and they are 12-4 in those games. Tajh has throw for at least 200 yards in 15 of the 16 games. Charlie Whitehurst holds the record for 200 yard passing games at Clemson with 24.
