Dan Radakovich, athletic director at Georgia Tech University since 2006, may have has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Terry Don Phillips at Clemson University.
Members of the Clemson Board of Trustees are scheduled to participate in a teleconference Monday morning, sources told The Clemson Insider early Sunday.
Previously an AD at American University, he also served as an administrator at LSU, South Carolina and Long Beach State.
Radakovich and John Currie of Kansas State were strongly considered as the top external candidates by the Clemson search committee during a second round of interviews. Currie reportedly visited Clemson recently.
A native of Monaca, Pa., and graduate of Center High School near Aliquippa, he holds a bachelor degree from Indiana University in Pennsylvania where he played football and a masters from the University of Miami (Fla.).
Upgrading facilities has been a focus of Radakovich’s tenure Georgia Tech, according to his bio, including a new football indoor practice facility and the new home for the basketball programs. He also hired football coach Paul Johnson.
