2014 Summerville standout Darin Smalls got a Christmas present he wasn’t expecting from the Tigers.

“I got the offer today from coach Venables.  It was a nice present,” said Smalls.

The 5-11, 180 pound defensive back already has three impressive offers.

“I have three offers.  Clemson, South Carolina and Virginia Tech,” said Smalls.

What position are schools recruiting Darin to play right now?

“They would like me to play corner,” said Smalls.

When asked about his current favorites, Darin responded, “South Carolina, Clemson and Virginia Tech”.

Expect the offer list to grow over the next few months.

“I am hearing from Notre Dame and Navy as well as some others,” said Smalls.

What will be important to Darin when he selects his college destination?

“Academics will come first.  Then I will also look for a strong football program,” responded Smalls.

The timing is not clear, but an early commitment is unlikely at this time.

“I am not sure.  It might be during my senior year around this time,” said Smalls.
