5-star Commit – Alexander is a Tiger

Cheers could be heard around Clemson Wednesday morning when corner MacKensie Alexander announced that he will be signing with the Tigers.

Alexander announced for the Tigers on ESPN saying “My four years will be at Clemson”.

The five-star cornerback told the nation “we are going to win a national championship”.

Alexander’s announcement gives Clemson seven defensive backs in the 2013 class. He was the No. 4 overall player in the country according to ESPN.

“It is going to be tough to leave these boys, these people and leave my mom and my dad out here,” Alexander said on ESPNU. “This is a big decision for me. I look at it as a million dollar decision. Mom and dad have to eat one day so you know I have to get out. I will be spending my four years at… the University of Clemson.”

Alexander said Dabo Swinney’s religious beliefs as a factor for why he chose Clemson over Auburn and Mississippi State.

“He is a good guy and a church guy like me,” Alexander said. “He made it from the bottom to the top. The staff, Coach (Brent) Venables and Coach (Mike) Reed, I trusted those guys. I’m going to be in great position.

“All of those guys are talking about the SEC right now, and it is what it is. We are No. 4 in the country, and we are going to win the National Title.”

Alexander had 51 tackles, four interceptions and retruned two for touchdowns for Immokalee High School in Immokalee, FL this past season.
