Clemson’s Sons Bowl is Saturday

By Staff Report.

The sixth annual Clemson Sons Bowl will begin at Memorial Stadium at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The  flag football game is a competition between former Clemson players of the past and it precedes Clemson’s Spring Football Game, which starts at 4 p.m.

This year’s roster of former Tigers has the best collection of former NFL and All-ACC players in the five-year history of the game. The list of former Tigers scheduled to play include recently retired nine-time All-Pro Brian Dawkins, former Super Bowl Champion Dexter McCleon, 2001 first-round draft choice Rod Gardner,  2006 first-round draft choice Tye Hill, All-ACC quarterbacks Woody Dantzler and Homer Jordan.  Jordan quarterbacked Clemson to the 1981 National Championship.

Overall, 10 former NFL players, 12 former All-ACC players, three former first-round draft choices and four former All-Americans are scheduled to play.

Many other former Clemson Tigers will be on hand to serve as coaches, including current Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl running back C.J. Spiller.

All players will be available for autographs and photos on the concourse of Death Valley from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM.

Admission is free.
