4-star running back Stanley Williams won the state championship in the 100 over the weekend.
“It is a good feeling knowing I won the championship. It was the first one for me in high school. It took a lot of hard work. I can’t believe I won, but I knew if I came in focused I could come out on top,” said Williams.
How fast was the winning time?
“I am not really sure. I heard it was an 11.01 but my coach said it was 10.83,” said Williams.
A number of schools have been by to check on the top running back in the last few weeks.
“Middle Tennessee State, Georgia Tech, Arizona and West Virginia have all be by,” said Williams.
Clemson will be by to check on the Georgia speedster this week.
“Clemson is coming by this week. So is Alabama. They were waiting until we started spring practice which starts this week,” said Williams.
What has Stanley been hearing from the Clemson staff?
“Coach Elliott and coach Morris are real excited about building this relationship before I make my decision. They want me to see everything Clemson has to offer. They tell me I can play my first year and can be a part of their offense. They are setting a lot of goals now. They are keeping in touch and we are building a good relationship,” replied Williams.
Stanley plans to visit Clemson for the Dabo Swinney Football camp.
“I am going to go up for one of their camps. I might compete or I might just hangout,” said Williams.
Clemson verbal commitment and good friend DeShaun Watson is working to get the prize recruit to join the Tigers.
“He is obviously the No. 1 quarterback in the nation. With him going to Clemson a lot of people think it would be exciting to have my speed in the same backfield and how dangerous we would be. We are talking about it. If I do go to Clemson he will be one of the reasons why. He is definitely part of the decision if I go to Clemson. A lot of people got a preview of what it would be like when we played together at the Rising Seniors game,” said Williams.
Stanley plans a number of visits this summer.
“I will be at Clemson and Georgia. I want to see South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn and try to make it to Florida and Florida State. It is going to be a busy summer. I think that is the best way to do it to go see the schools, see the atmosphere and what they have to offer,” said Williams.
After the summer visit tour Stanley plans to narrow the field.
“I am going to start narrowing it down after some visits this summer. I will narrow it down to a top five and then to a top three,” said Williams.
