GREENWOOD – Kaleb Chalmers was one of 13 Clemson commitments to sign a financial aid agreement earlier this month.
In five months, he and the rest of those prospects will begin class at Clemson.
“It was exciting. It seemed like all my dreams come true,” Chalmers said, when TheClemsonInsider.com asked about the financial aid agreement.
“The chance to play at a good school, a division one school in the ACC, it was just exciting.”
A three-star prospect according to all four recruiting services, Chalmers is ranked by ESPN as the No. 27 overall cornerback in the class of 2015.
The Tigers’ 20-man class is ranked No. 3 in the country by ESPN.
“We’ve got a great future ahead of us,” Chalmers said. “I think everybody is a four-star, except for me and one other kid. Just everybody come and produce, we’ll have something going.”
In the meantime, Chalmers is focused on closing out what’s been an already stellar career at Greenwood High School. He’s set the bar awfully high for the 2014 season.
“Go back to state, we’ve got to win state again, just have a great season as a team. Individually, I’d like to have 9 (interceptions), 60-something tackles and 12 (pass breakups),” he said.
As for Clemson, he sees them doing big things, too.
“They’re going to have a good season this year. If everything falls into place offensively, they’ll have a great season this year,” Chalmers said.
As a junior, Chalmers had 50 tackles, four interceptions and eight pass breakups. On the offensive side of the ball, he had five touchdown catches.
