4-star wing ready for officials

Dreher High School senior wing Tevin Mack, a consensus four-star prospect, has scheduled four of his five official visits.

The 6-6, 185-pound small forward recently spoke to TheClemsonInsider.com about where he’s going and what he’ll be on the lookout for during each trip.

“First, I’m going to Georgia on August 30, I know that. That’s an official. Then, I’m going to Oklahoma State, VCU and then Clemson,” Mack said. “After that, I’ve got one more and I don’t know where I’m going to be.”

He went into detail about the factors that will be evaluated over the next couple of months.

“I’m definitely going to talk to the players a lot, to see if they like the coaches (and) see if they like the school and everything,” Mack said, “Because the players, they’re not going to lie to you. They’re going to tell you the straight up truth. I’m going to see what it’s like on campus and get to know them a little better.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how they act with each other, how they interact, if there’s a great team bond or whatever. I want a good atmosphere really, and a school that I’m comfortable at.”

Working in Clemson’s favor is the relationship that Mack has with sophomore wing Austin Ajukwa.

“We’re pretty close. We work-out together, before he left, we used to work-out together a lot,” Mack said.

The two friends stay in regular contact with one another.

“He’s telling me great things about the school, so he kind of helps me out with recruiting and stuff like that, too,” Mack said.

His deadline for a decision is early November. The plan is sign later that month.

“Key factors for me deciding on a school are playing early. I want to go somewhere that I can play early and make an impact. I don’t want to sit on the bench for two years. I want to go play right away,” Mack said. “I don’t have to start. I just want to play and get some time, get a lot of experience by my sophomore year.

“But I just want to go somewhere I can play early, where I’m comfortable and where I feel like home.”
