Perception isn’t always reality.
When I observed Cole Stoudt talking with his father Cliff after Saturday’s scrimmage, it appeared to me that he was a little agitated. Soon after this, C.J. Davidson revealed Stoudt was a little banged up in the scrimmage, though, he did reveal to what extent he meant by being banged up.
When our own Ed McGranahan started asking Chad Morris questions about the quarterbacks’ performance, the Clemson offensive coordinator’s demeanor changed. Ed’s line of questioning, which was very normal by the way, seemed to have bothered Morris somewhat.
He seemed even more aggravated when I asked him about Stoudt’s injury. Why? That’s what all of the media was asking following the interviews. What happened on that football field in Death Valley on Saturday to make Stoudt and Morris seem so agitated?
Stoudt not speaking to the media did not help our perception of what might have really happened? It was the first time I can remember following a fall-camp scrimmage that we did not get the opportunity to talk with the first-string quarterback.
Davidson’s news and Morris’ demeanor sparked a lot of curiosity and speculation. There was more to Saturday’s scrimmage than what we were being told, or so we thought.
