Divine Deablo, one of the top 2016 wide receivers with an offer from Clemson, already has a favorite.
And it’s Clemson.
“The people at Clemson, they just treat you like family,” he said, during a recent interview with TheClemsonInsider.com.
“They’re not like other people. They say hey to you even if they don’t know you. I like that about Clemson. It was just like a home away from home the three days I was there.”
In June, the Mount Tabor High School (Winston Salem, N.C.) junior spent three days in Tigertown for the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.
“It was fun,” he said.
Defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks serves as Deablo’s primary recruiter. Wide receivers coach Jeff Scott also has a role in Deablo’s recruitment to Clemson.
Both assistants spent 1-on-1 time with Deablo.
“Riding around in the golf cart with coach Brooks, that was the most memorable thing,” Deablo said, when asked about what stood out during his camp stop.
“And coach Scott talking to me. He called me into his office and showed me some drills that I could do by myself.”
Deablo said of Brooks, “He’s funny. I like being around him.”
This fall, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect will hit the road for more visits, which will include a few more stops in Clemson.
“Pretty much every school that is interested in me, I want to go to at least one of their games, if not more,” Deablo said. “I know, Clemson, I plan on going to at least three.”
Deablo knows he will attend Clemson’s games at UNC and South Carolina games.
After listing Clemson as the favorite, Deablo named South Carolina, Duke, UNC and Louisville as the other four schools in his top five.
“I could say Clemson is at the top right now. After that, there is no order,” he said.
