Monday Morning Quarterback

By Will Vandervort.

You have to believe. Why? Because Dabo Swinney and his football team believe that’s why.

What do we have to believe exactly? Sixteenth-ranked Clemson will beat No. 12 Georgia in Athens this coming Saturday.

Yes, I said it and here is why? I believe Clemson is the better football team.
Sure, the Tigers have a lot of question marks and I know that all of those questions are on the offensive side of the football. I know Georgia returns Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall as well as a big strong offensive line that has a lot of experience despite the fact it is replacing three starters.

But I like what Clemson’s defense brings to the table. There seems to be a level of nastiness and attitude that started forming in this unit midway through last season. Sure, they gave up some points to South Carolina and Ohio State at the end of the season, but their level of physicality cannot be overlooked.

In those last two games, the Clemson defense was more physical and stronger than both South Carolina and Ohio State’s offenses, especially at the point of attack. I think this year, they will be even stronger there and it is hard to argue that considering the Tigers return their top 12 lettermen on the defensive line.

Since it’s game week, let me be the first to break it all down for you. You can read it in The Rock. It’s free.
