Grant to College of Charleston

By Staff Report.

Clemson basketball assistant coach Earl Grant has been hired to take over as the head men’s basketball coach at The College of Charleston.

Andrew Miller of The Charleston Post and Courier first reported the story just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night. TheClemsonInsider confirmed the news just a few minutes later.

Grant, who attended Stall High School in the Lowcountry, is the third Clemson assistant under Brad Brownell to accept a head coaching position.

Mississippi State hired former associate head coach Rick Ray in 2012. His replacement, James Johnson, was hired by Virginia Tech after spending just over a week on the job in Clemson.

Prior to working at Clemson, Grant served as an assistant at Wichita State and Winthrop.
