Cooper “loved” Clemson visit

Zerrick Cooper and Jordan Griffin arrived to their seats in Death Valley just in time for the start of Saturday’s win over S.C. State.

The Jonesboro High School (Georgia) junior prospects — both of whom have been offered by Clemson — got there just as the Tigers were making the run down the hill.

“I loved it a lot. The way the coaches treat their players after the game, before the game, the speeches that coach (Dabo) Swinney gave, the fan base that they have that’s behind the team,” Cooper told TheClemsonInsider on Saturday night.

After the game, Clemson’s coaches spoke with Cooper about his knee.

“How I’m doing, have I had surgery? They wished me well.,” he said. “They wanted me to come back to another game.”

Cooper tore his ACL over the summer and will miss the entire 2014 season.

“Right now, I’m just taking my time, to come back stronger and faster, so I can come back next year and have a break-out year,” he said.

Cooper attended the spring game before showing back up twice during camp. Saturday’s trip was his first real game in Tigertown.

“It’s lovely. Like I said, it’s a family behind the team. That’s a major role in having the school,” he said.

While Cooper and Griffin have yet to decide which game they’ll return for, they do intend to make a visit back to Clemson before the season is over. They’re also planning a few other campus visits.
