Morris sees Chalk

Chad Morris made his way back to Texas on Friday to check on 2016 tight end commitment J.C. Chalk.

The Clemson offensive coordinator watched as Argyle knocked off Celina, 41-29. However, Chalk didn’t play, because of an ankle injury.

“It’s on the inside part of my ankle, it was lower,” he said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider. “I actually got really lucky, because the doctor said I’m one of the only people he’s seen that sprained it there and not broken the other part of the leg, so I got blessed pretty well there.”

Chalk suffered the injury during a game earlier this season.

“We had a reverse with a wide receiver, I was blocking. I blocked down and he got tackled right at my legs, so I got rolled over,” he said.

A return to the field isn’t too far away.

“I’ll probably play this week, hopefully,” Chalk said. “I did warmups (last week), to see how it was, but it didn’t go that well.”

The first commitment to the Tigers’ 2016 class, Chalk will visit Clemson in a couple of weeks for the UNC game.

“I’m pretty excited. I’ve actually never gone down for a game, so it will be good to see the atmosphere and everything. I’ve always heard how crazy it is, so it will be good to see it,” he said.

Chalk recently added an offer from Texas Tech. Arizona State, Duke and Colorado State have also offered.

Texas A&M could be next.

“I tell all of them that I’m really strong with my commitment, so I really don’t talk to a lot of them,” Chalk said. “I’ve been talking to A&M, just in case all the coaching staff leaves from Clemson or something crazy happens; I can still have a relationship with a school just (incase) senior year rolls around and I don’t have somewhere to go.”
