Xavier Gantt has options: Georgia Tech, Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Wake Forest have offered.
Gantt, who plays running back and cornerback Buford High School (Georgia), is rated as a three-star athlete by Rivals.
“The only one that I can say for sure that told me was Georgia Tech. They want me to play A-back. All the other ones say athlete,” he told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.
That includes Clemson, which had Gantt on campus for a visit earlier this season when UNC was in Death Valley.
“It was great,” Gantt said. “The atmosphere was great. I was talking to coach (Tony) Elliott for a little bit. Watching Clemson play as a team was a really good experience.”
Gantt’s future was a topic of conversation.
“He was talking to me. He asked me what do I want to play. Then, he asked me what do I think I’ll play. So, he told me that he has me up there as a running back, but he said that he can also get me up there as a defensive back,” Gantt said. “I told him whichever one I can help at would be fine with me. It doesn’t matter.”
The 5-10, 165-pound prospect is quite familiar with Clemson. His father played football at Daniel High School before going on to play ball at S.C. State. Gantt has been to Clemson several times over the years.
Through five games this season, he’s rushed for over 400 yards.
