The preferred guard

Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell will have at least five new faces in his meeting room next year.

With Mitch Hyatt, Jake Fruhmorgen, Noah Green and Zach Giella all on board, Clemson, arguably, has the best offensive line recruiting class in the country. Also in the fold is Logan Tisch, a 6-3, 285-pound guard from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who’s committed to join the Tigers as a preferred walk-on.

“I’d been going to the Clemson summer camp for three years, I think. I just performed really well. Coach Caldwell kind of saw me through that and he offered me the preferred walk-on spot during that time,” Tisch told TheClemsonInsider, during a recent interview.

Tisch picked Clemson over preferred walk-on offers from UNC and Duke. Campbell, Davidson and Pennsylvania all had standard scholarship offers out to Tisch.

“I’d been to the campus many times and I’d met with coach Caldwell a bunch of times,” Tisch said. “I’d been down there a lot, just because my sister goes there. She’s a senior this year.

“I like the mentality they have, from the other schools I got to pick from. It’s a very family-based mentality, and they just want to be the best, so do I. I just felt like they were a perfect fit for me.”

Clemson has hosted Tisch for several games this season, including the night battle against UNC.

“It was the first night I’d been to and it was just on a whole different level, because I’d grown up going to all the UNC games,” he said. “When the game starts and they run down that hill, it’s a thrill. I get goose bumps, even though I’m not playing. It’s amazing to me.”
