Monday Morning Quarterback

By Will Vandervort.

Don’t look now, but Clemson’s trip to Atlanta is potentially looking like a bigger matchup than what anyone expected it to be when the season began.

Thanks to their 35-10 rout of Virginia on Saturday, the Yellow Jackets improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the ACC, which places them a half-game game back of Duke for first place in the Coastal Division standings.

With Georgia Tech going to NC State this coming Saturday and the 19th-ranked Tigers visiting little ole Wake Forest on Thursday night, both team should come into their annual grudge match with only two losses and a lot on the line.

Clemson (6-2, 5-1 ACC) is currently in the running for a possible Orange Bowl invite should No. 2 Florida State win and the Tigers do the same, while Tech is playing for a possible trip to the ACC Championship Game as well playing in one of the conference’s better bowl slots.

In other words, Clemson at Georgia Tech on Nov. 15 will have a lot on the line when the two teams hook up at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The time and television designation for this game will be announced around lunch time today.
