Dabo meets Pollard’s mom

Joined by his mom, dad and little sister, 2016 offensive lineman Sean Pollard spent well over an hour with Dabo Swinney on Sunday.

The Pollards, who drove to Clemson from Southern Pines, North Carolina, got into town on Saturday afternoon around 4 o’clock.

“We went to the indoor facility on the first night, then we ate dinner and kind of just hung out,” Pollard said, during an interview with TheClemsonInsider. “On the second day, we went and saw the whole school. Then, we had an hour-and-a-half conversation with coach Swinney.”

Mom took charge during that sit-down with the Tigers’ head coach.

“More or less, it was my mom asking questions about everything and letting her get her questions answered,” Pollard said. “Then, (Swinney) was just telling her how much they want me, and just talking about how it would be if I did go there. Wherever I go, my mom wants to make sure the coach will be there the whole time I’m there, so just asking questions and stuff like that.”

It was the third time Pollard had been down to Clemson this season. He visited with his dad and grandmother the Sunday before the Florida State game then returned a few weeks later for the UNC game

“My mom doesn’t really like to watch games if I’m not playing in it. It’s an off week and she hadn’t seen the school, so she wanted to see the school,” Pollard said.

Apparently, mom was satisfied with what she saw and heard.

“I think she liked it,” Pollard said. “She was asking questions about academics and stuff like that.

“She enjoyed it.”

So did the four-star offensive guard from Pinecrest High School.

“It was just laid back. I enjoyed the laid back feel of it,” Pollard said. “We weren’t really in a rush to do anything. We just kind of hung out.”

Pollard will make a game day visit to N.C. State in two weeks before returning to Clemson for the season finale against South Carolina. From there, Pollard will continue to weigh his options.

“I don’t think anything is going to happen until the late spring or summer,” Pollard said. “I’m graduating early, so I’ve got to make a decision. I don’t really have a (commitment) timeframe or anything.”

In addition to Clemson, Pollard owns offers from Duke, East Carolina, Miami, North Carolina, N.C. State, Penn State, South Carolina and Wake Forest.
