Sean Pollard, who’s ranked by Rivals as the No. 4 offensive guard in the class of 2016, will announce his commitment on Friday at noon.
Pollard will make the decision inside the field house at Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
TheClemsonInsider will be on hand for the decision. On Wednesday afternoon, TCI caught up with Pollard’s coach, Chris Metzger, for some insight on the 6-5, 290-pound prospect.
“Family is very important to him. We try to run our program that way and he has really bought into that and really, really enjoys the game,” Metzger said. “He plays hard, practices hard, works out hard.
“We told him wrestling would really help him become a better player, so he’s wrestling and we’ve got a great wrestling program. They do a great job. They are busting their humps, so I think he’s just a guy that is a real student of the game and loves competing.”
Metzger added, “He’s a hard worker. He wants to be coached hard.”
Away from the field, Metzger says Pollard is an “extremely caring” person.
“He puts others before himself. I’ve known Sean for a long time. He and my daughter have been going to school together for a long time and he’s just a really caring, respectful young man,” Metzger said.
Pollard holds offers from a number of schools, including Penn State, South Carolina, UNC and N.C. State. However, through much of his recruitment, Clemson and Duke have been ahead of the pack.
Whatever school lands his commitment on Friday will add an offensive lineman who Metzger believes could multiple positions.
“It’s kind of a beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” Metzger said. “He can snap. He’s still growing, so you never know. He could play them all. He’s a very athletic kid. We may play him some at tight end next year. He’s a guy that’s got a lot of skills.”
