Why not Clemson?

I thought to myself several times while watching Ohio State physically beat up Oregon in the National Championship Game, “You know, Clemson can beat both of these teams.”

Ohio State and Oregon are two really good teams and the Buckeyes proved without a doubt they were the better of the two. But as I watched the game unfold, it became quite obvious to me that Ohio State was doing things that I know Clemson could stop. How do I know – because the Tigers did it in last year’s Orange Bowl victory over the Buckeyes.

The power-counter trap the Buckeyes ran so many times for more than 200 yards on Oregon, never really worked on Clemson in the Orange Bowl. The Ducks were weak on the defensive side of the ball and could not match Ohio State’s physical nature – Clemson has already proven it can.
