Reed sees Orr

On day one of the contact period, one of the first stops made by Clemson defensive backs coach Mike Reed was to Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

There, he check on 2015 cornerback Kareem Orr.

“After Ohio State and Mississippi State left, coach Reed came in,” Orr said, during a Thursday afternoon interview with TheClemsonInsider.

Reed will be back for an in-home visit on Monday. The Tigers’ defensive back coach hopes Orr will follow up with an official visit to Clemson.

“It’s either — right now — next week it’s looking like it’s going to be Mississippi State or Clemson that I’m going to take a visit to,” Orr said.

A former Louisville commitment, Orr has been in regular communication with Reed since Clemson defensive tackles coach Dan Brooks offered last month.

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables spoke with Orr on Wednesday night.

“They told me they want me to come in and be an immediate impact player…(Venables) told me he wanted me to come in and start right away on the other side of Mackensie (Alexander), be a hawk on the end,” Orr said.

Oklahoma had Orr on campus during the fall for an official visit. Arizona State will host him this weekend.

If Orr takes an official to Clemson, it will be his first trip to Tigertown.

“Just if I bond with the players, really check out the academics and look into the facilities,” Orr said, when asked about what he would like to see while visiting Clemson.

As a senior, Orr had over 1,000 all-purpose yards, 20 touchdowns, 45 tackles, five tackles for loss, 12 pass breakups and an interception.
