Dabo, Caldwell hit Pinecrest

By Hale McGranahan.

Even though Sean Pollard is one of the newest Clemson commitments, Dabo Swinney and Robbie Caldwell stopped by his school on the first day of the contact period.

The Clemson coaches went to Pinecrest High School in Southern Pines, North Carolina on Thursday to meet with head coach Chris Metzger. TheClemsonInsider spoke with Pollard later that night.

“I really couldn’t speak to them because I’m a junior. They really just made their presence known, basically from across the school said hey, just waved at them,” Pollard said. “But they talked to coach Metzger and he told me what they were saying.”

What did they discuss?

“They were telling him how important I am to them. They came and saw me the first day since the dead period and came to my school and made their presence known,” Pollard said. “They were just catching up most of the time.”

That meant a lot.

“It shows that they’re not going to stop,” Pollard said. “I guess now that I’m committed, they’re not going to stop recruiting me and showing their interest, just because they know they have me. It really shows their character by doing that.”

Pollard, who tore some ligaments in his ankle while wrestling, has been on the mend for most of the new year. No need for worry, he cautioned.

“I’ll be fine. It’s a slow recovery process. I’ll be good in about three or four weeks,” Pollard said.

He added, “Clemson already knows about it and they know the whole recovery process. My coach has been talking to them and my doctor has been saying I’ll be fine, it will be like it never happened.

In the meantime, Pollard will continue to do his part in recruiting prospects to the 2016 class. He stays in touch with fellow offensive linemen Parker Bourdreaux and John Simpson. Pollard also plans to reach out to wide receiver Diondre Overton, a 2016 prospect from Greensboro-Page (NC).

Pollard will be in Clemson at the end of the month for the first Junior Day event of the year.
