Damarcus Harrison missed a three-pointer from the right side with 16 seconds left, allowing Florida State to escape Littlejohn Coliseum with a 59-55 victory.

The Tigers (10-8, 2-4 ACC) had a chance to win the game by rallying from a 56-46 deficit with 2:39 to play by scoring nine-unanswered points. Then FSU guard Devon Bookert missed the first of two free throws with 23.3 second to play that gave the Tigers a shot to either tie or win the game.

Clemson, who shot 34 percent for the night, decided to go for the win, but Harrison’s shot long off the back iron. FSU’s Jarquez Smith got the rebound and outlet the ball to a streaking Xavier Rathan-Mayes who made the layup to seal the victory.

The win marked the Seminoles third straight victory at Littlejohn.

It was a disappointing performance for the Tigers who appeared to have gained some possible momentum following Saturday’s victory over Syracuse. But seven missed free throws down the stretch from Rod Hall and Harrison did the Tigers in.

Clemson was 16 of 31 from the foul line, while the Seminoles dominated the game in the paint, outscoring the Tigers 30-22 in the paint and outrebounded them 32-31. It was the first time the Tigers have been outrebounded since the North Carolina game.

Clemson was led by Harrison’s 12 points, while freshman Donte Grantham scored 11 points. Jaron Blossomgame had 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Seminoles (10-9, 2-4 ACC) were led by Rathan-Mayes 17 points. Berkert tallied 14 points.

Florida State got the lead to 12 points, 44-32, before the Tigers used an 11-4 run, thanks to their 2-3 zone and driving layups by Rod Hall and Jordan Roper to pull within four, 47-43.

Following a Devon Bookert basket with 10:21 to play, which gave the Seminoles a 47-37 lead, Clemson scored six straight points and then got a three from Harrison from the top of the key to make the score 49-46 with 5:41 to play.

Bookert then drained a three-pointer to up the lead back to six points and following four missed free throws from Harrison, the Seminoles converted on a layup and then two Bookert free throws to open the lead back to 10 points at 56-46 with 2:39 to go.

Sidy Djitte scored the Tigers last eight points in the first half to keep them close.

Before the sophomore made two baskets and four straight free throws, the Seminoles built a 23-13 lead. Clemson made just 4 of its first 13 attempts from the floor and went from the 11:56 mark until Djitte made a layup with 2:21 to play.

Grantham made a three-pointer from the corner off an inbounds pass from Jordan Roper following a media timeout that made the score 13-11 with 11:56 to play in the first half.
