Just over 24 hours after he was on campus for his official visit, four-star cornerback Mark Fields committed to Clemson. The U.S. Army All-American decided to go public with the news on Monday night.
Clemson offered Fields the summer before his junior season at Hough High School. The Tigers were firmly in contention until South Carolina picked up a commitment from him in March. The pledge was withdrawn nine months later when Steve Spurrier told reporters he would retire in 2-3 years, and Clemson immediately jumped into the lead.
Fields was scheduled to take an official visit to Texas this coming weekend, but that trip has been canceled. He also named LSU his dream school when those Tigers offered earlier this month.
Upon his arrival to Clemson later this summer, Fields will join Hough High School teammate Van Smith, who enrolled in January.
