Clemson is among the early suitors for 2017 shooting guard Peyton Broughton, who picked up an offer from Clemson when Brad Brownell pulled the trigger late last month.
The 6-foot-4, 175-pound prospect from North Laurel High School in London, Kentucky spoke with TheClemsonInsider earlier this week.
“I’d been down there before then one weekend, to watch the football team play Syracuse,” Broughton said.
He also toured the campus and watched the basketball team practice.
“It was nice,” Broughton said. “I was a nice school, a nice campus. I loved it down there.”
Assistant coach Richie Riley runs the point on Clemson’s recruitment of Broughton.
“When he was at UAB, he had been recruiting me a little bit. When he got there (to Clemson), he began recruiting me a little bit more. He came down one day before school and watched me workout,” Broughton said.
Stanford, Western Kentucky, Wright State and Miami of Ohio have also offered.
“I don’t really have one school I really like or want to go to,” Broughton said. “Clemson, they’re like the biggest school that’s offered me (where) I’ve been to and talked to everybody. I don’t really have a favorite.”
So far this season, Broughton averages 28.5 points with close to five rebounds and four assists per game.
