Saturday’s Elite Junior Day serves as the unofficial kickoff to Clemson’s push towards Signing Day 2016.
While the Tigers’ coaching staff spent plenty of time on the road over the last few weeks recruiting some of the country’s best prospects in the class of 2016, Saturday will provide an opportunity to bring those many of those targets onto the Clemson campus.
Previous Elite Junior Days have brought some of the nation’s top talent to Tigertown. Last year’s event included plenty of star-power.
The East Lake High School (Tarpon Springs, Florida) trio of Artavis Scott, George Campbell and Mason Cole were among the headliners. Scott went on to commit to Clemson several months later at The Opening.
Cole made 12 starts as a left tackle for Michigan last fall and Campbell is expected to sign with Florida State next week. Other visitors like offensive linemen Austin Clark (Virginia Tech) and Bailey Sharp (Auburn) have already enrolled in school.
But there were plenty landed by Clemson, including Jake Fruhmorgen, Tucker Israel, Sterling Johnson and Mitch Hyatt.
All three of Clemson’s 2016 commitments will be in town on Saturday. Joining J.C. Chalk, Zerrick Cooper and Sean Pollard is a who’s who of the country’s best junior prospects.

The Elite Junior Day will be the first of several marquee recruiting events on the Clemson campus in 2015. Up next is the March 7 Junior Day. A month later is Junior Day No. 3, which traditionally coincides with the Orange and White Spring Game.
Clemson’s summer recruiting calendar is highlighted by a pair of events, the first being the Dabo Swinney Football Camp, which has two sessions in June. Things close out in July with the annual All-In Cookout.
