Georgia OL talks Junior Day offer

Checking in at 6-5, 260, Jack DeFoor will need to add a few pounds before he’s ready to contribute at the college level.

But Clemson’s coaches believe that won’t be an issue for the Calhoun High School (Georgia) junior offensive tackle. They offered him a scholarship when he was at Saturday’s Elite Junior Day.

“We were touring the weight room and coach (Robbie) Caldwell pulled me aside and told me that they were offering me,” DeFoor told TheClemsonInsider on Sunday.

“He told me that if I was going to come to Clemson, I better like the weight room, so I guess that was a good place to offer me.”

Clemson joined Georgia Southern and Middle Tennessee.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “It’s been a dream for me since I was a little kid, to play on the collegiate level, and Clemson, obviously, they win and have a lot of good tradition.

“Obviously, they’re a top dog in all of college football.”

Saturday was DeFoor’s first trip to Tigertown.

“They have the best facilities,” he said. “Their weight room, their stadium, their indoor practice facility, all of the coaches were very personable and they were very nice. It was easy to talk to them.”

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables stopped by Calhoun in the fall. Quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter visited last week and invited DeFoor to Junior Day.

On Monday, Ole Miss offered. Florida, Georgia Tech and Duke have also been in contact.
